Higher education is trapped in a competition fetish

The 2016 Worldviews Annual Lecture on Media and Higher Education delivered at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, Canada, focused on the distorting effects of embracing competition as a means to address the challenges facing higher education.

“…Competition has colonised our world. Everywhere we go, every step we take we hear the siren call of competition. In higher education, too, we are trapped in a competition fetish…”
