Open Science: EUA discusses the future of scientific publishing, open research data and alternative metrics

The EUA High-Level Group on “big deals” with scientific publishers and the Expert Group on Science 2.0/Open Science met in Brussels on 4 and 5 May 2017 to discuss the future of scientific publishing, open research data and alternative metrics.

Sabina Leonelli centred on five key principles as building blocks for more openness in scientific publishing:
sustainability, transparency, incentives, research evaluation
and community involvement.

Doris Wedlich presented recommendations and outputs in areas such as:
data foundation, terminology and interoperability; data citation,
bibliometrics and workflows; and metadata standards.
